One of the colleges that are actively involved in Yuva Janaagraha is IBS Bangalore. An enthusiastic group of volunteers from the college have made an effort to highlight the transport problems faced by the citizens of Bangalore. In an attempt to solving this problem they are working on a civic project. The objective of this project has been to set up a bus stand near the college on Kanakapura Road. Through this process, they have had an opportunity to interact with the BMTC and BBMP as well as carry out surveys near the college.
Along with this, activities have been organized within the campus as well. One of them, being ‘PRAYAAS’, which was presented in collaboration with the annual IBS Management Fest “TARKASH”.
The aim of PRAYAAS was to create awareness among students about Yuva Janaagraha and its activities. Through these events, the volunteers hoped to motivate the students to start becoming active citizens. The events at the fest were a skit competition (Rangmanch) as well as a debate competition (Tol Mol Ke Bol)
Rangmanch was directed towards creating focus on the need for citizen involvement. The topics were framed keeping in mind the current issues facing the citizens of Bangalore. Five teams participated in the event and each was 30 minutes for preparation. The result was performances with good scripts as well as dialogues. Judging criteria was based on creativity, originality, effective communication, presentation and acting skills. The 1st place was won by IBA, Bangalore
The aims of Tol Mol Ke BOL were to motivate students to become active citizens as well as make an effort to invoke a call to action. The topic to debate was “Are youth more capable of ruling the country”. Eight teams participated with enthusiasm and vigor. The teams were judged on the basis of the content, ability to argue and defend their case, communication and presentation skills. The 1st place again went to IBA, Bangalore while the runners up were St.Joseph’s College of Business Administration.
This event was a success as atleast hundred students of the college had the opportunity to learn about the organization. Moreover, a stall was placed at a prominent position where CQ forms and other government agency information was handed out to the students. Hence, it provided a good space for creating awareness and spreading the message of Yuva Janaagraha.
