Rising crime rate in bangalore
Today's newspaper carries the grusome murder details of 3 people killed in bangalore. If I am not wrong so did yesterday's paper and the day before! There was one incident where a woman was chopped to pieces after she died of burns. So where is our city headed?
We are proud to compare ourselves to all other cities for all the good things, and crime rate is something we cant shy away from. For a city that was reasonably peaceful a decade ago, this is not a good trend. I think first of all it could be the rising differences in social/economic status which is leading to frustration and then to criminal behavior. This is a sociatal issue.
But what we need to do is not just look at the big picture but enforce strict laws to ensure citizens fear committing crimes. It looks like people feel quite free to kill and kidnap people in the city. Once reason could be the incapable law enforcement system.

Hey Shruti, Interesting
Hey Shruti,
Interesting thoughts...I must also add that I believe that considering the hassle it is to get your complaint registered- the amount of trips to the police station that have to be made and the entire convoluted process to be followed is often much too much for an average person to handle. It's a never-ending process to just see the culprit be brought to justice, not to mention an arduous one. Could this also be leading to a rise in crime? Criminals believing that they will be long gone by the time the process of bringing him to justice has taken its course?
Slow justice is no justice at all, after all.
