What Can I do?
Stray Dogs
You can:
- Keep your area clean; avoid littering and dispose leftovers appropriately. Food litter is the most common source of invitation for dogs from other areas.
- Avoid feeding stray dogs;domesticate or adopt it.
- Lobby with your community/apartment association to adopt stray dogs.
- In case of a dog bite:
- Wash the wound gently with soap and water.
- Apply pressure with a clean towel to the injured part to stop the bleeding.
- Apply a sterile bandage to the wound.
- Keep the wound elevated above the level of the heart to slow swelling and prevent infection.
- Call/Visit your doctor.
- Report to BMP
Note: The BMP grievance redressal page is under construction
- Help your local health officer by monitoring and supervising the implementation of Animal Birth Control (ABC) in your area.
- Ensure that the Anti-Rabies Vaccine is administered to every stray dog in your area.
