Lakes
Once upon a time, Bangalore was called ‘the City of Lakes'. Now, nearly 90 percent of the city's lakes are on the verge of extinction. The unchecked deterioration of the remaining lakes in and around Bangalore prompted the birth of the Lake Development Authority (LDA) in Bangalore, on 10th July 2002.
Apart from the LDA, others local bodies like the BDA, BMP, Forest Department, Minor Irrigation Department etc. are also working towards restoration of lakes in and around Bangalore.
