Parks in Bangalore can be classified as tree type parks meant for daily use, heritage parks and ornamental parks.
What are the policies of the BMP relating to the development of parks?
The BMP has come up with guidelines for developments of parks coming under the jurisdiction of the BMP.
As per the guidelines, all future park development will be tendered out. The contractors, who are awarded the contracts, must develop and maintain the parks for two years and hand over the same to the BMP subsequently. Expenditure norms are to be followed for development of different types of parks.
What are the guidelines given by the BMP for maintenance of parks?
Tender guidelines
• Maintenance work of parks should be given to contractors only through tenders. The contractors who apply for tenders should be members of The Nurserymen Cooperative Society, Lalbagh or any other horticulture association
• The contractor who is given the tender should start maintenance of the park within 15 days from receipt of work order
• For estimating the maintenance cost, only rates given in Schedule of rates must be applied.
