Tree Felling and Tree Planting

Bangalore is a city with numerous trees, many of which are years old. Bangalore's soil and climate conditions allow an extraordinary variety of plants and trees to flourish. With developments mushrooming rapidly, infrastructure has been built ad hoc instead of being well-planned. As a result, trees are often found on roads and footpaths, blocking pedestrians and vehicular passage. The dilemma of protecting them or cutting them has been a subject of continuing controversy.
Tree felling without prior permission from the Forest department is an offence. Citizens are required to make a formal application to the Forest Department or the BMP before felling a tree.
