I am delighted to share the opening issue of our monthly magazine for the year 2017-18! The year has started on a very encouraging note for us.
Since the last time we wrote to you, we have entered into our second Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India. I Change My City team will now maintain and enhance MoUD’s website swachh.org.in. The swachh.org.in connects corporates and municipalities for the latter to tap into CSR funds for their Swachhata projects. Please click here for a photograph of Sylvia Veeraraghavan, Head Civic Participation – Online, Janaagraha and Mr. Praveen Prakash, Joint Secretary & Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission signing the MoU.
Swachhata app which was the outcome of our first MoU with the MoUD, has exceeded all expectations. Since its launch in August last year, the Swachhata app has witnessed 61,19,374 complaints from over 1 million citizens in over 1,000 cities of India! I Change My City, the web platform of which Swachhata is a part, is also laying down its roots in Mumbai. You can read more about our walkathon- ‘Walk For Change’ with the Credit Suisse team here.
The findings of Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems (ASICS) 2016 which we released just over a month ago has prompted a question in the Parliament, this time in the Rajya Sabha. We are quite pleased that ASICS is on its way to becoming the frame of reference for conversations on urban governance in India.
Closer home, The Economic Times collaborated with us for a 5 part series analysing the city’s finances in the run up to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) Budget 2017-18. We thank you for all your support and encouragement. Your views and inputs are invaluable to us. So please do write in to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will keep you posted!
