All year round working hard to make their programme perform and generate the necessary outcomes is what keeps Janaagrahis busy. As this year comes to an end, we wanted to bring the employees together and lend their passion outside of work. After extensive brainstorming we decided to practice what we preach!
In November, Janaagrahis huddled in groups to begin the participatory planning process to strategize on “How each of us can contribute 100 hours of volunteering as active citizens in 2017” .
All employees were divided into ten groups to participate in what we called the ‘Planathon’. The idea behind such a planning exercise was to nudge each one of ourselves to look, think and act a little beyond our immediate job roles and participate as active citizens.
The Planathon culminated into the evolution of multifarious ways of volunteering as active citizens- each unique in its own way. We will now invest greater time and thought to solidify one of the winning ideas and work towards instilling the spirit of volunteering and participation among ourselves in the coming year.
We, as Janaagrahis urge each one of you to seize every opportunity- big or small, to participate in fixing issues that impact the quality of our lives in city spaces. We’d love to hear about your experiences of volunteering for issues around your neighbourhood.
This edition of Urban Canvas will take you through all that has been happening at our end this November. Do read on and let us know what you think. We look forward to hearing from you.
