Greetings!

The month of April saw the culmination of the Swacch Survekshan Survey 2017 with the release of its results. Indore has been declared the cleanest city in India among 434 cities surveyed by the Quality Council of India. The survey was conducted to check the progress and impact of the much talked about Swacch Bharat Mission. The Swacchata app (Ministry of Urban Development’s official app for the SBM) developed by I Change My City team held 150 marks for the download and usage of the Swachhata app in the Swachh Survekshan Survey. Click here for the lead story to know more about it.

We are very excited to have 1.15 million registered user base for the app and what’s really encouraging us are the stories of impact coming in from different parts of the country. Read experiences of citizens like Varun Gampa and Prithwiraj of getting complaints resolved using Swacchata app.

Our three year old participatory budget campaign- My City My Budget just received the Social Media for Empowerment Awards 2017 for the category- Crowdsourcing from Digital Empowerment Foundation. MCMB has been recognized from amongst 162 nominations of initiatives and organizations in South Asia who have work to leverage and implement social media campaigns to connect with citizens!

Very recently, I had the opportunity to be a part of a panel discussion organized by NITI Aayog on Area based Urban Renewal Strategies for Smart Cities at a Workshop on Smart Cities and Informed Urbanization. The workshop has opened up several opportunities for initiating long-term collaboration for knowledge sharing. Also, had the pleasure of delivering a session on the findings of our Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems to IAS officers during mid-career training program at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
