A collaborative network of civil society organisations working towards driving systemic reforms in city governance

Network for City-Systems Reforms (NCSR) is focused on delivering key urban reforms by supporting political and administrative decision makers at the Central, State and City level , particularly in the areas of urban planning & design, urban capacities & resources, empowered & legitimate political representation, and transparency, accountability & citizen participation.

WHY NCSR?

Transforming quality of life in India's cities and towns needs successful implementation of institutional reforms and overhaul of governance structures in cities. This requires 2 essential attributes -

  • Long-term sustained engagement with governments and other key stakeholders
  • On-ground local expertise to inform the engagement

Both demand local on-ground presence and an extensive network-based model to scale up these reforms across India. This sparked the need to form a pan-India collaborative network of organisations working in the area of urban governance.
