City-Systems Leadership Programme
Mayors, Councillors and Administrators of Municipal Corporations in Karnataka participated in the first ever city-systems leadership programme. Cities represented included Mysore, Vijayapura, Mandya and the SMART cities of Shivamogga and Hubbali-Dharwad, besides Bengaluru.

Urban Local bodies to switch to e-payments
The Ministry of Urban Development signalled a shift to cashless operations with a message to all 4,041 Urban Local Bodies in India to switch to e-payments for both income and expenditure related transactions. As per latest estimates these cities account for 75% of the total 40 crore urban population of the nation.

Accelerating citizen engagement in Smart Cities
Janaagraha hosted a round table on “Smart Cities: Enabling Citizen Participation through Technology”, in Bengaluru. Even as Smart City proposals incorporate citizen requests and feedback at the project proposal stage, the roundtable discussed innovative ways to promote citizen engagement.
Extension of deadline – V Ramachandran Awards
The deadline for submission of nomination has been extended to December 31, 2016. The awards seek to recognize outstanding work that either enables decentralisation in cities through laws, policies and institutions or operationalizes decentralisation in cities through execution and implementation.
