Janaagraha participated in a 4 day workshop initiated by the Philanthropy Foundation Dasra held in New Delhi. Dasra plays the role of an intermediary between Philanthropists, Social Entrepreneurs, Corporate Entities / MNC’s and NGO organizations. The workshop called the “Dasra Social Impact Accelerator Program” is an initiative to support NGO’s in capacity building and offering them a platform to source funding opportunities.

37 NGO’s took part in the workshop including Janaagraha. The Dasra team conducted due diligence over a period of the last one year and identified all the workshop participants for a preparatory session before building a business case in the Dasra Philanthropy week which will be in between 17th March to 21st March. The agenda of the workshop was structured to introduce some key concepts like Elevator Pitch, Theory of Change, Scaling up Capacities, Building an Operating Model to all the participants.

The format of all sessions were in the form of Group Activities, wherein each group worked around some sections of these concepts and presented to all participants. Dasra Facilitators summarized the work done by the participants in the groups.

Participants got an opportunity to interact with other NGOs working in similar space as Janaagraha.

Dasra’s 3 year plan is to raise INR 10 crores by 2016-17 and conduct capacity building sessions and create platforms for the identified NGO’s to engage with Philanthropists.

Janaagraha also attended a flagship initiative run by the Vodafone Foundation called the ‘World of Difference’. In India, this initiative is conducted by Vodafone in partnership with Dasra. As part of the initiative, employees of Vodafone will use their skills, expertise and passion to help NGOs working in different areas.

World of Difference 2015 orientation workshop, also held in New Delhi was spread over a period of 2 days. Series of discussions and activities were conducted to help the Vodafone employees to transition smoothly to their respective NGOs.

For the 2015 edition of the initiative, two employees of Vodafone will work with Janaagraha for a period of eight weeks and help us with mobile marketing, business strategy, user engagement etc.
