ASICS Report

Cities are intricate and multifaceted entities, requiring a systems-oriented approach to comprehensively diagnose and effectively address urban issues. The “City-Systems” framework provides such a holistic perspective, enabling us to identify the underlying causes of our urban challenges. This framework encompasses four essential components: urban Planning and design, urban capabilities and resources, empowered and legitimate political representation, and transparency, accountability and participation.
The Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems (ASICS) serves as a comprehensive assessment of the City-Systems in India’s cities, functioning as an annual health check-up of the laws, policies, institutions, and processes that shape the quality of life in urban areas. With the advent of its 5th edition, ASICS aims to push the boundaries further by advocating transformative reforms in city governance across India’s urban landscapes.
