Conducted as a part of Janaagraha’s ‘City Leaders’ study, this report is a compilation of interviews with 65 councillors from 21 cities across 16 states in India. It aims to capture their concerns, challenges, and aspirations. The report offers a look at the operational landscapes councilors navigate and throws light on the unintended consequences of institutional failures. It serves as a powerful tool in challenging assumptions and understanding the disempowerment faced by our local elected representatives.
