“Measuring Women’s Safety Perceptions and Strengthening Community Policing” was published in March 2020 to provide insights into the safety concerns of citizens in Mysore. The study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of community policing in addressing these concerns. A quantitative household interview involving 418 citizens (213 women and 208 men) in Mysore was conducted, including interview questions on security perceptions, police and policing, safety initiatives, and more. Issues surrounding safety while traveling alone, trust in the police, public transportation, and street lighting were addressed through the interviews. Also, future steps for improving community safety were discussed – for instance, suggestions such as organizing a roundtable discussion with key stakeholders, including law enforcement leaders, implementing trust-building community policing initiatives, and more.
