Local Power, Global Change: A City Leaders’ Handbook for Climate Action, co-created by Janaagraha with ClimateRise Alliance and its partners – Biome Environmental Trust, Sahaas, WASH Institute, and SWMRT, is a practical, action-oriented resource that supports climate action at the ward level by positioning it as a local governance priority.
Through real-world examples and actionable frameworks, the handbook equips councillors and urban practitioners to lead change from the ground up — within their wards and communities.
Grounded in the real experiences of councillors across India, the handbook offers case studies, tools, and detailed guidance on addressing issues across key areas such as waste management, water conservation, urban greening, and disaster resilience.
By breaking down complex challenges into simple, implementable actions, it demonstrates how local leadership, community participation, and sustained effort can translate into visible improvements in everyday urban life.
