Police Station ProcessDocument

This document represents a collaborative effort between the Karnataka Police Department and the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy (Janaagraha). It serves as a comprehensive Process Document that outlines the various procedures integral to the functioning of a typical police station. The document meticulously captures process flows, document generation, and critical decision points for each of the 27 identified processes.

The document is organized into two parts. Part A, titled “Process Mapping,” initiates with an exploration of the functional and hierarchical structure of a police station. It subsequently provides a broad overview of the processes, categorizing them into Investigation, Support Processes, Services, and Allied Operations. Following this overview, detailed discussions for each of the 27 processes are presented, accompanied by flowcharts that offer a concise depiction of process dynamics within the police station and interactions with external stakeholders.
